Every day counts when owners want to get their properties occupied. NYC is densely populated, have large number of high-rise buildings, and are in close proximity between other buildings. Protection of public and adjoining properties while performing construction operations such as mobilization of heavy equipment , materials logistics and safeguarding job site as per changing NYC rules and regulations is a challenging job. In simple words doing construction in densely populated city poses more safety risk to the public , property and construction crew. Having a site safety plan in place which is drafted as per NYC building code and accurately identifying the potential safety hazards present at the site can help to mitigate these safety risks during construction operations.

We develop the plans keeping in view of the construction schedule of the contractor and integrate with overall construction operation schedule. Our proven process gets our clients the permits they need in a fair period of time so that construction projects are not delayed.

Our Three steps procedure

Step 1:
Site Survey
Process starts with surveying the site. All the necessary items required to be identified on the site safety plans needs to be documented. Identification of any potential hazards are observed and noted to be addressed on the site safety plans. Some of the required items which must be identified on the site safety plans are as under. Please note that we follow precisely the requirement set forth by NYC DOB in order for the quick approval of the plans. Before our clients can break ground, a Site Safety Plan must be approved to get the required permits. We work closely with our clients to assess and gather all the information needed to prepare highly-detailed plans that meet or exceeds the requirements of Chapter 33 of the NYC Building Code:
- General site information including job site address , street and side walks with width and traffic direction etc.
- Pedestrian Protection, including location of all construction fences around work site, with location of fence panel indicated etc.
- Adjoining Property Protection, including its roof protection , yard protection and Construction Access zone.
- Unenclosed Perimeter Protection
- Excavations, including: Location of excavations , Guardrails and protection of sides of excavation/underpinning and Egress from excavations, including soil/rock ramps.
- Fire Protection, including: Location of hydrants , fire extinguishers, all standpipe system and fire department hose connections, red lights indicating standpipe and hose outlet connections, Standpipe alarm system details, including pressure gauge, air pressure release, air compressor , all hoists/elevators for fire department use; and Storage areas for flammable liquids and gases.
- Location of Construction and Temporary Construction Equipments
- Means of Egress from the Jobsite: Both permanent and temporary, with stairs/ramps and landings, handrails, and guardrails indicated.
- Operational Information, including Means and methods of securing controlled access zones, both at the jobsite and on adjoining property;
- Personnel Information, including: Location of security guard and watchperson stations

Step 2:
Preparation of plan
It is the requirement of NYC Building department that a site safety plan must be approved by the department before any work permit can be issued to the contractor to start the work at the site. We can provide to our clients Site Safety Logistics Plans and Phased Site Safety Plans. We work closely with our clients to assess and gather all the information needed to prepare highly-detailed plans that meet requirements indicated in Chapter 33 of the NYC Building Code, including:
- Location of construction fences, sidewalk sheds, temporary walkways, guardrails around excavations, etc.
- Location of surrounding buildings, loading areas, and standpipe system and Siamese hose connections
- All required safety netting and scaffolding
- All means of egress
- Indicators for proper signage, fire extinguishers, first aid kits, and disposal methods
- Consulting building codes, government regulations and other emergency response agencies to ensure the job site is compliant with health, safety and environmental regulations
The client is given a detailed 2D, 3D, animated demo and often a 3D printed model of the building and its surroundings to view the safety plan from every angle.

Step 3:
Providing Site Safety services
Once the safety plans are approved and construction begins, We can provide a dedicated, licensed Site Safety Managers who are responsible for implementing, monitoring and enforcing the safety of the construction site.
Licensed Site Safety Managers are required to oversee safety on NYC construction sites when the building is 15 stories or higher and a Licensed Site Safety Coordinator is required when the building is between 10 and 14 stories.
Our staff of certified and or licensed safety professionals who are the link between state/local agencies and contractors. Our highly skilled and qualified staff are responsible for:
- Conducting site safety inspections for potential hazards, including checking for appropriate safety clothing or gear, broken equipment, defective tools and enforcing the display of safety signage
- Monitoring compliance with the safety requirements indicated in NYC and OSHA rules and regulations
- Ensuring workers have proper training and certifications required to operate specific equipment
- Developing and implementing emergency response procedures and performing emergency response drills
- Scheduling worker orientations, safety meetings and tool box talks
- Conducting accident reporting and maintaining required logs and other record keeping
